Healthy Granola bars
When I first tried to take sugar out of my diet, I had scariest cravings. I felt like a drug addict in rehab. I haven’t overcome my sugar addiction. But changed the type of sugar content and quantity. Here is one awesome high-nutrition snack for when I crave meetha. No guilt of ruining my health and it fills me up quickly. Check out the recipe:
Ingredients:
3 cups rolled oats
1/2 cup nuts of your choice
1/2 cup raisins of your choice
1/2 cup mixed seeds
1 cup pitted dates
Directions:
- If your dates are too dry, pour 2-3 tablespoons of hot boiling water to soften them.
- Use a grinder to make rough paste of dates. Dates will be the natural sweetener and binding agent for granola bars. It is not necessary to make a smooth paste.
- Take a wide pan and toast rolled oats over medium heat. Slightly toast the oats for no more than 3 minutes.
- Place oats in a large mixing bowl.
- Use the same pan to toast nuts and mixed seeds one by one.
- Mix all the toasted ingredients together in a bowl.
- Add dates in oats bowl and mix everything with your hands.
- Now put everything in a square pan and press firmly to avoid crumbling. Although there is no need to grease the pan or use butter paper. But you can use it to keep your pan clean
- Put your pan in preheated oven and bake it for 20-25 minutes at 120 degrees.
- Take the pan out and let it cool. Once cooled down, use flat utensils such as a knife to pry out the granola block.
- Use a large knife, preferably bread knife to cut block into bars.
- Keep it in an air-tight container.
